Different Oil Filters – What’s the difference?

Rick from Legacy Ford Ponoka gives a tutorial on the quality differences between the Ford Motorcraft and aftermarket brand oil filters.

With the Ford Motorcraft brand, it has a wide spring; when the pressure from your engine blows the oil up, it keeps equal pressure on the filter down. On the aftermarket brands, they have a smaller individual spring, so the filter can rock. When it rocks with the pressure, oil can seep in, this means that not all the oil is going through the filter.

The Ford brand filter is more expensive by a couple of dollars, but with the handiwork and quality you get with the proper Ford Motorcraft brand, it is worth the cost. Come to Legacy Ford Ponoka today for great service and quality Ford parts!
