On March 6, 2014 the Cote family experienced an unimaginable tragedy: the loss of their father, Eric, in a massive pileup on Highway 2. Leaving behind two young daughters (both with medical conditions requiring regular treatment) and a wife, the family was left in turmoil.
Immediately the community gathered to offer their support; but it was the act of a few good Samaritans and our dealership, Legacy Ford Ponoka, who stepped up and made it possible to give the family a 2013 Ford Escape SUV.
Eric Cote’s brother, Mike Cote, could not convey his gratitude, saying that words were not enough. He went on to explain how much this act of kindness meant to his family, “You can understand, it is a big, big thing for them, the family has to drive their young daughters to treatment every two weeks. [My brother’s wife, Ghislane Moreault,] can’t believe how generous people are, she just can’t believe it and nor do I.”
I do not want to take full credit for these actions. I want to thank the people of Ponoka who approached me, including community members and two local business owners who wish to remain anonymous, with the idea to help this family. I am one of many who helped, with numerous people raising a portion of the $23,000.00 to purchase the Ford vehicle for the Cotes.
